6 tips for a healthy summer

Summertime means longer days, sunshine, holidays, the constant urge for ice creams and ice blended shakes. Here’s how to make the most of your summer and stay healthy, too.

1.      Hydrate:
Drink plenty of water. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Help your body sweat and cool down by drinking water frequently.

2.      Mix 30 g jaggery, 1 pinch cardamom, 1 pinch cinnamon to 1 litre water and sip throughout the day. This helps us tolerate the heat and boosts metabolism.

3.      Consume 1 tsp roasted mango seed powder with 3 tsp honey in the morning. Mango seed has nutrients which nourish the liver and boost metabolism.

4.      Soak 1 mango in 10 liters of water and keep in the early morning sun for 1 hour and bathe with that water. This prevents a heat stroke and keeps us cool in summer.

5.      Soak your feet in warm water with 1 tsp of rock salt before sleeping. This flushes out all the excess heat and helps adjust better to the hot weather.

6.      Exercise in the morning or evening, when it’s likely to be cooler outdoors. If not, exercise in shady areas. If it’s too hot to go out, work out at the gym, or walk laps or climb stairs inside an air-conditioned building.
